MEDFORD, NY — Investigators removed what is believed to be an inactive, antique grenade from Savers Thrift Store in Medford on Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
Officers from the department's Emergency Section responded to the Patchogue-Yaphank Road location after a 911 caller reported "a suspicious object that appeared to be a grenade" at around 12:30 p.m., according to police.
It was removed from the store by the officers, police said.
It is not clear where the object was found, where it came from, whether it was donated, or placed on sale.
More specific details of the finding were not available, a police spokesperson said Friday.
