CORAM, NY — Suffolk police Arson investigators are probing a fire that displaced close to two dozen people from their homes Sunday night after an apartment complex fire in Coram, authorities said.
Volunteers from the American Red Cross' Long Island Disaster Action Team registered 15 households, including 19 adults and one child, for emergency assistance, including financial aid, according to an American Red Cross spokeswoman said.
The blaze broke out at around 9:30 p.m., according to the police.
The fire drew around nine fire departments, and it took about an hour and a half for firefighters to extinguish the flames, officials told News 12 reported.
No one was hurt, police said.
The fire was one of two that Arson Squad detectives responded to on Sunday.
A fire broke out at a home in Yaphank on Sunday afternoon.
Any residents displaced by the Coram fire who did not connect with the Red Cross responders on scene should call 877-RED-CROSS (option 1) for help.
