Electric Scooter Driver Hospitalized After Crashing Into 2 Cars: Police

NORTH BELLPORT, NY — A person operating an electric scooter was seriously injured after striking another vehicle in North Bellport on Thursday afternoon, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said a 20-year-old man was operating an electric scooter northbound on Macdonald Avenue when the scooter struck a 2015 Kia Optima at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue. The scooter then struck a 2015 Hyundai Accent traveling eastbound on Atlantic Avenue around 3:14 p.m., police said.

The scooter operator, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries, police said.
