Brood Of 7 Ducklings Saved From Storm Drain On Long Island Expressway

LONG ISLAND, NY — A brood of seven ducklings were saved from a storm drain on the Long Island Expressway on over the weekend by a group officers and workers from the state’s Department of Transportation, Suffolk police said.

Officers Justin Davis, Sameer Malik, and Thomas Cummings were on highway patrol when they were dispatched to the westbound LIE between exits 62 and 63 where ducklings were trapped in a storm drain, according to police.

With the help of the DOT, an excavator was used to lift the storm drain cover, and the ducklings were rescued and released to Long Island Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation, police said.
